Insecurities are a bitch: The Outfit I would never wear.
This is an outfit I was over the moon to order. It would sit in my closet for three years.
This is the outfit that shows my fat belly. The one that makes my hips look too wide.
ModCloth Poe Inspired Nevermore Lovely Dress
This month’s Ahead of the Curve theme is the world of black and white. What’s black and white and read all over? The Raven! Is there a better way to celebrate such a beautifully macabre piece of poetry than though fashion? I dare think not. I was yearning to own this unique dress from ModCloth for months. The Poe inspired Nevermore Lovely Dress is a motif of French script, quills, inkwells, cages, and, of course, the ebony bird that always beguiles your smile. The Nevermore dress has a sleeveless bodice, but I preferred for March weather to style it with a shurg underneath. Additionally I added a black petticoat that I picked up at Chic Star cheap. All my ModCloth dresses are a size 4X. This dress is no exception. The Nevermore dress does, however, run bigger than my others from Mod. The waist is a tiny bit big so I opted to add a belt, just to bring it in a tiny bit.
My shoes are the Career Fairest heels from ModCloth. These shoes are a two tone Mary Jane style heel. What I loved about them was the thicker heel and the fact they were not overly high. I don’t do well on skinny high heels. My feet are not skinny or very wide. I guess they would be somewhere in the middle. I dislike when a shoe is too narrow and I’m made to feel like an evil step sister. I do not have that problem with these. There is wiggle room though the width.
Some of my readers may recall I recently posted that I’m obsessed with hats and gloves. My look was screaming for some uber cute black leather glovettes. I picked my gloves up on Etsy from Daniel Storto. Handcrafted by America’s master glove maker Daniel Storto based in Gloversville New York [the one time glove capital of the world] using historical glove making tools from the 1800s which were all produced in Gloversville New York. These gloves were custom made so they took a little while to receive. It was well worth the wait because they are gorgeous. If placing an order please measure your hands very carefully. These gloves are a snug fit and of you measure wrong you will not get them on. After wearing them for a few hours, they have loosened up and are much more comfortable.
No Poe inspired look is complete without an image of Poe himself. My necklace I designed last summer as part of my collection for Haunted Hamilton. This necklace is still available on my Etsy page along with other Poe pieces.
MODCLOTH RAD TO THE BONE DRESS
I’m addicted to looking at my Mod Cloth app. I check it almost daily. Hence, why I have a Mod Cloth wish list a mile long. I can always find dresses that I love at Mod. Recently I opened one of their daily email and to my surprise, it was a notification that their Rad to the Bone dress was back in stock. When I first saw this dress I fell hard. I was horrified to find it was out of stock. This dress was one of those dresses you dream about at night, worrying it will never get stocked again.
The Rad to the Bone dress is wicked sweet and is intelligently embellished with bones and their terminology. This cotton dress is a great length hitting me at my knees and has the added benefit of pockets. I picked this dress up in size 4X and it fits my size 26/28 body perfectly. My favorite thing about this dress besides the black and white print is the fact the print glows in the dark. How fun is that??
As much as I would have loved to wear this dress without a sweater, it’s still super cold here in Canada. I could not wait until spring to get it on. I added one of my favorite Hell Bunny cardigans from Sweet Echo Plus to keep me warm. Funky tights that matched my lips were also in order. My Violet legs are from We Love Colors.

My American Horror Story Coven Influenced OOTD
I’m totally obsessed with the fashion from American Horror Story Coven. All the hats, gloves and scarves take me back to my youth in the 80s. I used to wear hats and gloves all the time. I’m not really sure why I stopped. I’m totally bringing it back. I put together this look to show off my new floppy hat. I picked this hat up on Ebay for $11 shipped!! How can you refuse for that price. While it is not quite as big as I would like it totally works. I hope I will find one a little larger in the near future.
The dress I’m wearing is from Pink Clove. I picked this dress up about a month ago. Unfortunately they no longer have it in stock. I was late to the party with this dress. When I found it, it was on clearance. I think I picked it up for $15 plus shipping. The price point on the stuff at Pink Clove is excellent. Some of the stuff is typical and not overly exciting, but they did have a few stand out pieces like my dress. When I found my dress I totally feel in love with it. I was really fond of the ombre like fade on the fabric and the wiccan inspired print. I’m not sure that the light mid section of the dress is very flattering on my figure. It doesn’t much matter because I love the style of it so much. I will still wear the heck out of this piece.
I have always been a scarf girl. I buy a lot of scarves. I really love them, but I don’t actually wear them that often. They mostly hang around my house looking fabulous. When I saw this triangle eye print scarf at ASOS I knew I MUST own it. It reminded me so much of Sioux Sue and my favorite years in the 80s. This scarf is huge. As you can see from the images it hangs all the way to the ground. I am 5’6. I will be able to use this scarf so many ways. I will love looking at this one hanging around. It really makes me smile every time I see it.
I finished off my look with a new shade of lipstick, Purple!. I have not worn a purple lip in many years. To tell you the honest truth, I had kind of forgot it was a lipstick color. I get so wrapped up in my varying shades of red, I sometimes get lost. I have been into trying matte lip stains lately. I picked this one up at Pretty Zombie Cosmetics. I’m wearing shade 3 Witches. I wasn’t sure I could pull this color off, but I’m really happy with it. I was not able to find a purple lipstick that was matte and had staying power at Sephora. My Pretty Zombie stain was $11 and shipped really fast. I would love to hear feed back on any stains you have tried. I’m always looking for new lips.
In this outfit I feel completely dressed to kill and I could be the next supreme?
